Over The Hedge 2006 Dvd

The findings support mounting evidence that therapeutic dance can, in the short term, significantly improve balance, mobility, gait, disability, and quality of life in PD . Although the recruitment levels in the reviewed studies did not always meet clinical trial targets, attendance and adherence to dance classes were generally high. The duration of the dancing classes and session lengths varied, and improvements were seen in interventions running for two weeks up to 2 years .

There were significant improvements when session lengths ranged from 30 to 90 minutes per day. Although previous systematic reviews of dance for Parkinson's disease were conducted by Shanahan et al. , Carapellotti et al. , Berti et al. , and Rocha et al. , all of those were confined to randomised controlled clinical trials. By conducting a more recent search and extending our analysis to RCTs and non-RCT quantitative studies, our review captured more of the therapies currently being implemented in clinical practice. Despite the systematic review being informed by the Cochrane guidelines, there were several limitations. The findings might not generalise to people with end-stage disease or very old people, or those who cannot access face-to face classes or digital technologies. Many trials did not control for the effects of levodopa or other Parkinson's medications.

Intervention duration and frequency were reported; however, none of the studies documented the intensity of dance therapy. Although some large, significant effects were demonstrated, these need to be considered in light of the moderate to high risk of bias in many studies, especially those that were not randomised trials. Although dance and music were shown to have benefit for people living with PD, the most effective dance genre or music type require further exploration .

Quality of life can be adversely affected by Parkinsonism , and the mechanisms by which arts-health therapies such as dance and music can improve health-related quality of life warrant further exploration . Also, the reviewed articles were in the English-language, limiting generalisability to non-English speaking cultures and their associated dance genres. The premise of cute forest animals terrorizing people and stealing their food is pretty funny in itself, and Nad Hedges tries to exploit that as best he can. Much of the comedy in the film is not for me, such as the running gag that Vern constantly sheds his shield and we see his ass. I think something like that would work better with kids, which makes sense. Some characters have good chemistry, but overall this is the kind of movie where you turn off your brain and enjoy eighty minutes of nibbling.

And I think that's good, but Over the Hedge is ultimately more for kids than adults. My parents, with whom we saw the film in 2006, do not have fond memories of it and show no interest in seeing it again. Usually DreamWorks goes out of their way to entertain the whole family, and honestly I think that effort was made here, but it didn't really work.

Over the Hedge was released in 2006 and is based on the comic book of the same name, written by Michael Fry and illustrated by T. The film has an impressive cast with names like Bruce Willis, Steve Carrell, Wanda Sykes, William Shatner, Nick Nolte and many others. Above the Hedge is directed by Tim Johnson and Karey Kirkpatrick, with a dozen writers, including Len Blum and Lorne Cameron. Interestingly, Over the Hedge was originally a Fox Animation Studios project that would have been directed by legendary animator Don Bluth. However, poor reviews and box office results from Bluth's 2000 project Titan A.E.

Led to the studio's closure, and Over the Hedge was delayed until DreamWorks' Jeffrey Katzenberg showed interest and bought the film rights to Fry and Lewes' comic book. We'll never know what Bluth's version would have looked like, or if he was any good, but we can't help but wonder. I saw Behind the Hedge in the theater when it came out, and I really liked it. That said, I was 11 years old, and my taste in movies has changed a lot since then.

The effects of dancing for PD reported in non-RCTs demonstrated end of intervention benefits for people with mild to moderately severe disease . There were improvements in balance , disability , mobility and Tinetti Mobility Scale , depression , and quality of life [26, 68–70, 86, 87]. Key studies on digital delivery modes for dancing with PD (e.g., ) showed that virtual technologies can be an accessible and beneficial method of physical activity for some people living with this chronic and progressive disease. They break through with help from RJ, a sneaky raccoon who's looking to replenish a food supply he swiped from a sleeping bear.

Together, the animals attempt to infiltrate the modern maze of vinyl siding, pink flamingoes and SUVs, not to mention the humans that live and eat there, in hopes of scoring enough food for next winter. Another obstacle arises in the form of a sadistic exterminator, whose high-tech gadgetry is typical of the film's over-the-top portrayal of suburban existence. Though some of the anti-development gags are sharp and well-deserved, it's nothing we haven't seen before, even in an animated film. Still, this is a film that appears to place its message of cooperation and family before action figure sales, so it's hard to complain. Clever and funny, Over the Hedge is a wildly entertaining adventure from DreamWorks Animation. When a bunch of foraging critters come out of hibernation to find themselves blocked in from a gated community by a hedge, a street smart raccoon teaches them how to live in suburbia.

The cast is excellent, featuring Bruce Willis, William Shatner, Garry Shandling, Steve Carell, and Avril Lavigne; who all deliver wonderful performances. And the animation is especially good, with incredible detail and creative designs. The music by Ben Folds is also well-done, giving a lot of energy and character to the film. Delightfully hilarious, Over the Hedge is a smartly made comedy that's good family fun. Parents need to know that this animated movie includes a fair amount of cartoon violence.

Characters are crushed, blown up, flattened, banged, burned, and bounced -- all in good, Chuck-Jones-influenced fun. Animal protagonists steal food from each other and from unsympathetic humans. When a raccoon steals a bear's winter stash of food, the bear threatens retaliation and the raccoon fools other "foragers" into stealing food from humans to repay the bear and save himself. Younger kids will laugh at the obvious stuff and won't get the edgier humor aimed at older audiences, so this is one that several age groups can enjoy together. Dancing was shown to be clinically feasible, with high levels of adherence by participants and considerable interest in future classes. Many of the publications that we reviewed supported the need to increase access to community dance classes to improve exercise capacity and wellbeing, as well as to increase the opportunity for people living with Parkinsonism to socialise.

For face-to-face dance classes, there is a need to determine how to reduce barriers to participation, including transportation, access, and cost, (please see ). For digital modes of dancing, clinical protocols are needed to support safe and sustainable implementation and guidance in the use of technology. In the current global context of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is arguably a need to further explore digitally delivered dance and other forms of physical activity for people living with chronic neurological conditions . Studies were included if they used dance as an exercise intervention or form for physical activity or physiotherapy. All genres of dance were eligible, including Irish-set dancing, tango, waltz, tap, jazz, salsa, ballroom, ballet, mixed genre, and creative dancing.

Classes could be delivered partnered or nonpartnered, group or one to one and with or without music. Some of the dance interventions were delivered by dance teachers and others were delivered using "virtual" tools such as Wii (Nintendo Inc., Japan) or Sony Play Station® video game systems. The criteria for comparison or control interventions were any "usual care" or "usual physical activity" condition or any other therapeutic intervention. The outcomes of particular interest were balance, gait, disability, and quality of life.

over the hedge 2006 dvd - Quality of life can be adversely affected by Parkinsonism

Dancing for people with PD aims to improve movement, wellbeing, and quality of life, as well as social engagement and exercise capacity [29–32]. Dance also allows for creative expression and can take the focus off the disease and onto movement to music and social connection . A study by Dos Santos Delabary et al. reported that dance sometimes has greater benefits for functional mobility and motor symptoms than usual care. Likewise, Shanahan et al. noted that participation in dance can improve endurance, motor impairment, and balance for those with mild to moderate PD. Berti et al. reported that adapted tango dance programs are an effective intervention for individuals with PD with a range of abilities and balance limitations. For such an interesting movie for kids, it has a strange message about the morality of stealing.

The theme of family distress is a bit heavy-handed, and R.J.'s turnaround comes too late, but the film is fun. The latest hit from DreamWorks Animation, OVER THE HEDGE, comes to DVD on Oct. 17, 2006 (DreamWorks Animation/Paramount Home Ent., $19.95). Full financial estimates for this film, including domestic and international box office, video sales, video rentals, TV and ancillary revenue are available through our research services. To conclude, dance is safe and feasible for some people in the early to midstages of PD, provided that safety precautions and training are incorporated into design and delivery. There are positive associations between therapeutic dancing and improvements in gait, balance, movement disorders, and disability. There was preliminary evidence that delivery of dancing for PD online is beneficial for some people, although there is a need to verify the efficacy and safety of this modality, especially for people who are frequent fallers.

Parkinson's disease is a debilitating and progressive condition that currently has no cure. People living with PD can experience movement disorders and nonmotor symptoms that compromise their levels of physical activity and quality of life [2–5]. Movement slowness , balance impairment , falls , and gait disturbance often occur . These movement disorders, coupled with anxiety, depression, or lethargy, can be major barriers to maintaining long-term engagement in physical activity . Spring has sprung, and Verne and his woodland friends awaken from their long winter's nap to discover that a tall, green "thing" has mysteriously cropped up right through the middle of their home. Enter RJ , an opportunistic raccoon, who explains that the world beyond the hedge is the "gateway to the good life" where peculiar creatures called humans live to eat, rather than eat to live.

Suspicious and even a little jealous of RJ, the ever-cautious Verne wants to keep his blended family safely on their side of the hedge. But, proving the adage that one man's garbage is another man's—or rather animal's—treasure, the manipulative RJ tries to convince the woodland band that there is little to fear and everything to gain from their over-indulgent new neighbors. Eventually, RJ and Verne form an unlikely friendship as they learn to co-exist with—and even exploit—this strange new world called suburbia. Based on the popular comic strip by Michael Fry and T Lewis, Over the Hedge is being directed by Tim Johnson and Karey Kirkpatrick , making his directorial debut.

A small cluster of featurettes accompanies the film on this Special Edition DVD, including Behind The Hedge. Co-directors Tim Johnson and Karey Kirkpatrick reveal the roots of the story in an eco-minded comic strip by T Lewis. Bringing his characters to three-dimensional life presented many challenges for the animation team, but most daunting of all was designing convincing fur. The computer bods confess they were especially narked by copious 'hugging' scenes, which required them to write new programmes for the ruffling of said fur. Method quality and risk of bias assessments were conducted for all studies.

In addition, 20 were at moderate risk of bias [26, 28, 30, 55, 56, 58, 65, 67, 69–71, 73, 74, 76–79, 84, 87, 88] and 11 were at low risk of bias [27, 62–64, 68, 81–83, 85, 86, 80]. For RCTs, blinding of the participants and therapists was generally not possible due to the nature of dance therapy. A large number of RCTs did not include intention to treat analysis [26, 30, 54–57, 59, 61, 65–67], concealed allocation [30, 54–61, 66], or reporting of outcomes for more than 85% of participants at each time point [26, 54, 57, 59–62, 65–67]. Non-RCT studies were identified as having increased risk of bias as there was no control group [28, 68, 70–74, 75–80, 84, 87], or they did not receive similar treatment or care [28, 68–75, 80, 81, 84, 87], or they did not conduct a follow-up [69–72, 74–76, 83–85, 87]. Only 3 studies included either telehealth or technology-based interventions that included virtual reality dancing or dance Google glass modules . The duration of interventions ranged from two weeks to two years with frequency per week varying from once a week to daily.

The intervention session length was usually 1 hour, although it ranged from 30 minutes to two hours. Structured exercises and physical activities can assist people with chronic diseases to keep moving and to stay engaged in social activities and recreational sports . One of the challenges for practitioners is keeping people with Parkinson's motivated to adhere to regular physical activities over long periods of time . People typically live with PD for 7–25 years , and clinical guidelines recommend daily physical activities for at least 30–45 minutes per session . For progressive conditions such as PD, it is recommended that a range of therapeutic exercises is available, to maintain long-term exercise adherence and compliance . There is evidence that people in the early to midstages of Parkinson's can benefit from progressive resistance strength training , cueing , aqua therapy , physiotherapy , aerobic exercises , Nordic walking , community walking , assisted cycling , boxing , and tai chi .

Therapeutic dancing is another option, given that it is engaging and can be done in groups or individually [26–28]. Its main characters may work in a bar, but this show is no "Cheers." Caustic, cynical, crass, and hilarious, "It's Always Sunny" delights in pushing the boundaries of good taste far beyond what would fly in a network show. The first season took a while to find its comedic footing, but since season two, which kicked off with Danny DeVito joining the cast, the show has received universal acclaim from critics. When it was renewed for a 15th season in 2020 it became the longest-running live-action comedy series in American history. America's longest-running animated show was originally adapted from a series of shorts sandwiched between sketches on "The Tracey Ullman Show" in the late 1980s.

over the hedge 2006 dvd - Usually DreamWorks goes out of their way to entertain the whole family

The series has come a long way since then, spawning toys, comic books, albums, video games, a feature film, and even its own theme-park ride at Universal Studios. At the peak of its success, the show's main cast members earned $400,000 per episode, though they've since agreed to multiple rounds of pay cuts in order to keep the show financially feasible for Fox. This HBO guilty pleasure follows the career of Vincent Chase, an actor from Queens who brings a tagalong crew of friends from the old neighborhood with him for his ride to Hollywood stardom. Reviewers enjoyed Jeremy Piven's portrayal of Vince's slimy Hollywood agent, but criticized the shallow characters and plotlines, while audiences were happy to live vicariously in Chase's hedonistic world. A 2015 movie that tied up some loose ends from the show garnered poor reviews and underperformed at the box office. The film is not a total failure though, the vocal performances are consistently good.

As mentioned earlier, the characters largely complement each other well. I always enjoy seeing Catherine O'Hara, and in Behind the Hedge she plays Lou and Penny with her boyfriend Eugene Levy. Nick Nolte is very good as Ozzy, and he really sounds like a bear with his deep, rumbling voice that gets louder when he's angry.

over the hedge 2006 dvd - The film has an impressive cast with names like Bruce Willis

Honestly, my favorite thing about Over the Hedge is the human villains, Gladys and Dwayne . The first is the president of a homeowners association, who clearly doesn't want animals terrorizing her neighbors. To get rid of them, she calls Dwayne and asks him to kill the animals in increasingly inhumane and illegal ways. These two have most of the best, most absurd lines in the film, and personally I love these actors. Allison Janney is one of the best actresses, and I've been a fan of Church since George Jungle. It's sometimes hard to remember how old a film is in relation to the ageing of its technical effects.

over the hedge 2006 dvd - Above the Hedge is directed by Tim Johnson and Karey Kirkpatrick

I'd put it on the level of current cartoons, but considering Over the Hedge came out fifteen years ago, the animation is actually pretty good. Their coat is a bit clumsy, but their movements are fluid and they have very expressive eyes. There are a few non-diegetic songs by Ben Folds on the soundtrack that are very good.

over the hedge 2006 dvd - Interestingly

Some of the lyrics are quite straightforward, which you can take from the experience, and the style is a bit sentimental for me. However, the score by Rupert Gregson-Williams (Harry's younger brother) is quite good. I think Over the Hedge could have done without the background songs, especially given the short length of the film. The movie is about an hour and twenty minutes long if you don't count the credits, and that's a lot less even for a cartoon for kids. Final Thoughts Despite a few flaws that keep it from "future classic" status, Dreamworks' Over the Hedge is a pleasant, entertaining animated film that the whole family should enjoy. The DVD offers plenty of support for the main feature, including an excellent technical presentation and an assortment of light but interesting bonus material.

over the hedge 2006 dvd - However

A weekend rental should satisfy casual fans of the film, but there's certainly enough here to justify a purchase. Just don't drive your SUV to the store to buy it…and if you do, at least stay off the cell phone. It's not a perfect family film, but Tim Johnson and Karey Kirkpatrick's Over the Hedge marks a modest improvement for Dreamworks' typically underwhelming animated features. This enjoyable CGI romp floats by with a cast of likeable characters, an interesting premise and an excellent soundtrack by Hans Zimmer, Rupert Gregson-Williams and singer/songwriter Ben Folds, with only a bare minimum of failed gags and recycled story elements. As the humans take over former forest, there are fewer places for the animals to find food.

Naturally, also, the humans want to retain a hedge between the woods and their home. They find that much of the forest they lived in has been turned into a housing development, which is separated from the little forest remaining by a giant hedge. The animals wonder how they will forage enough food for the next winter.

RJ meets them and encourages them to traverse the hedge and steal food from the humans. Despite Verne's concerns, the animals join RJ in stealing and stockpiling human food, not knowing he intends to give it to Vincent. Gladys Sharp, the neighborhood Home Owners Association president, takes notice of the animal problem and hires exterminator Dwayne LaFontant to get rid of them. The late James Gandolfini led this megahit, award-winning HBO series as Tony Soprano, an Italian-American mobster who had to balance family life with organized crime.

Edie Falco, Lorraine Bracco, and Jamie-Lynn Sigler co-starred in what some critics consider one of the most groundbreaking series ever made because of its effect on the industry in elevating the art form. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Sherlock Holmes in this popular series based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's detective series of the same name. Produced as a co-production of BBC and WGBH in Boston for PBS Masterpiece, the show has received praise from critics and fans alike, winning three Primetime Emmys, including Outstanding Lead Actor for Cumberbatch. In this critically acclaimed anthology crime drama series, new cast ensembles take on challenging crime investigations each season. The first season, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, was called one of the best drama series of the year, while other critics said it was one of the strongest in recent memory.
